Running Latte Cafe has officially opened in Bergenfield, bringing a community-driven coffee concept to 189 N. Washington Avenue.
While specialty coffee and freshly prepared juices anchor the menu, the vision extends well beyond the cup.
The team behind Running Latte Cafe set out to create a welcoming neighborhood gathering space—one designed for connection through shared experiences like run clubs, book clubs, Coffee DJ events, and casual meetups with friends.
The café also plans to host small celebrations and intimate community events, reinforcing its role as a local hub rather than just a quick stop.
The concept is led by a family-rooted team with deep ties to coffee and hospitality. Co-founders Missy Duque-Alonso and Linette Duque-Phillips grew up spending summers on their family’s coffee farm, learning the craft from seed to harvest before eventually returning to their roots with this project.
They are joined by cousin Gio Barreto, a restaurant industry veteran with nearly 20 years of experience, who oversees operations and leads the café’s seasonal, chef-driven food program.
Their collaboration was encouraged by Gelson Duque, whose support helped bring the family vision to life.
The menu features specialty coffee drinks, fresh juices, and rotating seasonal food offerings including sandwiches, arepas, salads, chia bowls, avocado toast and other specials.
The space spans approximately 1,800 square feet with seating for about 35 guests and is designed to feel warm, flexible, and inviting.
Running Latte Cafe is currently open six days a week and closed on Mondays.
