Cannabis giant Curaleaf is launching an effort to help fight food insecurity in New Jersey this holiday season.
The promotion comes as part of the MSO’s annual Feed the Block campaign. Throughout, customers at retail locations in Edgewater Park, Bordentown and Bellmawr will have the option to round up purchases to the nearest dollar or contribute additional funds at checkout. Curaleaf said it will then contribute 100% of those donations to local organizations addressing hunger.
In New Jersey, that includes the Food Bank of South Jersey in Pennsauken and Trenton-based social services organization Mercer Street Friends, a spokesperson told NJBIZ.
Along with in-store donations, the company said team members will also volunteer their time through food drives, meal prep events and other community-based initiatives in partnership with local grocers and nonprofit organizations.
Now in its fifth year, Feed the Block has raised more than $450,000 and provided meals to thousands of families across the U.S., according to Curaleaf. This year’s campaign will benefit organizations across 12 states where Curaleaf operates.
In a statement, Chairman and CEO Boris Jordan said, “At Curaleaf, we believe community engagement must go beyond words; it’s about action and accountability. Food insecurity touches every corner of the country, and Feed the Block is one of the ways we demonstrate our commitment to addressing it. By uniting our teams, customers, and partners, we can create meaningful change in the places we live and work.”
