President Donald Trump will join Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) in a telephone rally on Monday evening to support Jack Ciattarelli’s campaign for governor.
This is Trump’s second “tele-rally” supporting Ciattarelli this fall. In the first, Trump lauded Ciattarelli’s energy proposals and attacked Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair), Ciattarelli’s opponent. Restore New Jersey, a super PAC backing Ciattarelli, is hosting the event.
Ciattarelli faces Sherrill in Tuesday’s race to succeed term-limited Gov. Phil Murphy.
Trump held a similar tele-rally for Ciattarelli after endorsing him in the Republican primary earlier this year.
Van Drew was elected to Congress as a Democrat in 2018, but switched parties in 2020 and has since been a Trump loyalist.
Trump’s predecessor, former President Barack Obama, rallied for Sherrill in Newark on Saturday.
Listeners can tune in to the Trump telerally at (833) 746-0072 at 7:30 p.m.
