Jersey Mike’s Subs is growing further in its home state of New Jersey.
As part of an ongoing expansion effort across the U.S., the Manasquan-based quick-service chain plans to launch six local sites:
- Cape May Court House 11 Court House South Dennis Road
- Hillsdale 451 Hillsdale Ave.
- Jackson 515 Monmouth Road
- Short Hills 799 Morris Pike
- Washington Township 5 Club House Dr.
- Wharton 320 Route 15 S.
It is not clear when the batch of stores will open. A spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for more details on the locations.
After starting out in 1956 as a small sandwich shop in Point Pleasant, Jersey Mike’s is considered one of the fastest-growing chains in the country.
Jersey Mike’s serves a variety of freshly made cold and hot sub sandwiches prepared to order with premium meats, cheeses and fresh-baked bread. The brand is best known for its signature “Mike’s Way” style — topped with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, vinegar, oil and spices — and its emphasis on freshness and friendly service.
Its footprint of more than 3,200 locations includes 145 stores in New Jersey.
According to Jersey Mike’s, there are nearly 300 units in development.
The continued growth comes almost a year after Jersey Mike’s completed the sale of a majority stake to private equity giant Blackstone for a reported $8 billion. When founder and CEO Peter Cancro stepped down in April, he transitioned to the role of chairman of the board of directors. He also remains a significant minority shareholder in the company he spent decades building, and is involved in charitable outreach for the brand.
