Gordon Ramsay posted a picture of his bandaged face and neck on Instagram Saturday.
In another photo, the celebrity chef, TV host and restaurateur had stitches going from the bottom of his ear to his jaw.
“I promise you it’s not a face lift,” he said in the post (see below). “I’d need a refund.”
It was skin cancer.
Ramsay said he had been diagnosed with and treated for basal cell carcinoma.
“Grateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma,” he said, thanking the London medical professionals.
Basal cell carcinoma is associated with exposure to sun and ultraviolet radiation.
The experience moved Ramsay, 58, to issue a reminder to his followers.
“Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend,” said the British culinary star.
Ramsay has three restaurants in Atlantic City: Gordon Ramsay Steak at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, and Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill and Hell’s Kitchen at Caesars Atlantic City.
Ramsay, whose has eight Michelin stars among his many global restaurants, hosts the food and restaurant-centered reality shows “Kitchen Nightmares‚” “Hell’s Kitchen,” “Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service,” “Next Level Chef,” “MasterChef” and “MasterChef Junior.”
Last summer, he had a serious bike accident in Connecticut, after which he implored people to wear helmets, saying his saved his life.
