Ready to explore the Garden State’s rich history?
NJ Transit has launched its new educational campaign ‘Jersey Journeys’ in celebration of America’s 250th Birthday.
The new interactive map, dubbed “Jersey Journeys: Every Stop Tells a Story,” displays more than 150 historic sites and landmarks across the Garden State that is easily accessible by NJ Transit bus, rail or light rail.
These historic New Jersey sites were intricate in shaping the nation, the press released stated.
“This campaign highlights how rich a history New Jersey has that is only one rail, bus or light rail trip away,” said NJ Transit President & CEO Kris Kolluri. “We’re proud to celebrate America’s upcoming 250 birthday by offering customers a way to experience New Jersey’s heritage through public transportation.”
This campaign is in addition NJ Transit’s growing set of resources to help residents and visitors take advantage of public transportation to enjoy everything New Jersey has to offer.
Below are the three adventures to explore in New Jersey from NJ Transit:
- Transit to Trails: provides similar travel planning information for more than 40 parks in 21 New Jersey counties.
- Pizza & Pints: lets people plan trips to more than 165 world-class pizzerias, breweries, wineries and distilleries in the state.
- Jersey Journeys: Every Stop Tells a Story: displays more than 150 historic sites and landmarks across the Garden State that is easily accessible by NJ Transit bus, rail or light rail.
“The Jersey Journeys campaign is a fantastic opportunity to explore some of the oldest and most significant historical landmarks in our nation, right here in New Jersey,” said Kean University President Lamont O. Repollet, Ed.D. “Kean is proud to be part of an initiative that connects communities to their past and also inspires future generations to learn, explore and dream big.”
When is America’s 250 Birthday?
America will mark its 250th year on July 4, 2026, according to the White House website. The day will commemorate 250 years since the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
