“In 2025, rising utility bills became a defining national issue – first an energy story, then an economic one, and now a political one,” PowerLines Executive Director Charles Hua said in a statement.
The report notes that since 2021, electricity prices have increased by nearly 40%. In the past year, 2025 prices for retail electricity rose 7%, and piped gas was even higher at 11%.
