Paramus Mayor Chris DiPiazza announced his bid for a second term as mayor earlier this week, according to a release.
DiPiazza, a Republican, served a term on the council in the Bergen County borough before his mayoral victory in 2022. In an announcement video, DiPiazza said he has continued investments in parks, recreational services, and infrastructure while keeping taxes in the borough low.
“Over the last four years, we’ve made tremendous progress,” DiPiazza says in the video. “We’ve also been fighters against overdevelopment and unfair policies coming down from Trenton.”
No other candidates have filed to run, and Paramus Democrats have not announced a candidate. Republicans hold a unanimous grip on the borough council.
Paramus has shifted right in recent years. It voted for President Donald Trump by 15 points in 2024, though it gave him just a 1-point margin in 2020. Paramus voted for Republican Jack Ciattarelli by 8 points in last year’s gubernatorial election.
