Matt Platkin, who leaves office at noon tomorrow after four years as the 56th Attorney General of New Jersey, will join the New York University Law Center for Law and Public Trust as a distinguished scholar.
“While I may be concluding my tenure as Attorney General, my commitment to combating corruption and restoring trust in government will never end,” Platkin said. “I will work alongside a visionary leader in Vanita Gupta and many of the nation’s most prominent advocates and scholars to help rebuild our democracy. At a time when trust in government is at historic lows, nothing could be more important.”
Gupta, a former Associate U.S. Attorney General and head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, said she was pleased to welcome Platkin to the center, “which has a mission of pursuing bold ideas to rebuild our nation’s institutions and restore trust in government.”
“I have had the pleasure of working with Matt in various capacities, and he brings to NYU Law a clear commitment to combating corruption and fighting for our democracy, as well as a unique perspective on the role State government plays in this work,” she stated. “I am excited to have him join us as he concludes his impactful term as New Jersey’s Attorney General.”
Platkin served as chief counsel to Gov. Phil Murphy prior to becoming Attorney General in 2022.
