Clifton Councilwoman Rosie Pino, currently the lone Republican running against Rep. Nellie Pou (D-North Haledon) in the competitive 9th congressional district, is out with the first ad of her congressional campaign.
The ad, “Fighter,” introduces Pino to voters as an American success story willing to fight back against Democrats and the “corrupt political machine.” Pino’s campaign said it is currently putting “low five figures” behind airing the ad on streaming and social media platforms, with plans to increase its investment in the coming weeks.
“Here in New Jersey’s 9th district, families are working harder than ever, yet we feel forgotten,” Pino said in a statement. “Our community deserves leadership that delivers results – not excuses. With this first ad, we are broadcasting our message to voters that NJ-09 deserves better, and Republicans have a plan to flip this district red in November.”
Until recently, Pino was locked in an unpredictable Republican primary against Billy Prempeh, who was the nominee for the same district the last three election cycles, but Prempeh dropped out in December, alleging that GOP leaders were conspiring against him. One other Republican, attorney Tiffany Glenn Burress, may join the race as well.
