U.S. News & World Report has named 14 New Jersey cities to its 2025-2026 rankings of the Best Places to Live in New Jersey, noting our state’s “lively arts scene, rich musical heritage and popular entertainment options.”
The rankings are the results of data drawn from Applied Geographic Solutions (AGS), U.S. News’s internal resources, U.S. government agencies, and state and local sources, as well as a February 2025 public survey in which Americans across the country voted for factors they find most important when choosing a place to live.
To top the list, a place must earn high scores in criteria such as “desirability” and “quality of life.”
The 14 New Jersey cities are:
