Khyber Coffee and Tea House is Coming Soon to Hackensack
A new coffee and tea destination is headed to Main Street in Hackensack.
Khyber Coffee & Tea House, founded in 2023 in New Brunswick, is preparing to open its second location—introducing Bergen County to a concept rooted in heritage, conversation, and community.
Created by a group of first-generation American friends with family ties to Pakistan and Afghanistan, Khyber was inspired by the long-standing tradition of gathering over hot chai and kahwa.
The name pays tribute to the historic Khyber Pass—a mountain pass connecting Pakistan and Afghanistan that has long symbolized trade, cultural exchange, and hospitality.
Just as tea and coffee were once shared along those routes, the founders envision their café as a modern-day gathering place where stories, culture, and ideas flow freely.
The menu focuses on artisanal coffee and tea, with beans sourced globally and roasted locally for freshness.
Expect a thoughtful selection of specialty drinks alongside traditional chai offerings. Fresh baked goods and pastries made daily will round out the experience, designed to complement both coffee and tea.
True to its roots, the space aims to feel warm and inviting—a cozy setting for everything from casual meetups to solo work sessions.
No opening date has been announced yet.
