Murphy Signs Expansion of Family Leave Act

A number of business groups opposed the bill, saying that it placed too heavy a burden on businesses with fewer than 30 employees. The New Jersey Chamber of Commerce said, “New Jersey small businesses are already shouldering some of the highest operating costs in the country.”
Cape May County, with its large number of small businesses, may see may more employees covered by the legislation.
Signing the legislation, Murphy said, “We are ensuring newer employees and employees of small businesses are not excluded from the protections of the New Jersey Family Leave Act.”
