Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill (D-Montclair) got yet another labor endorsement today, this time from the Essex-West Hudson Labor Council AFL-CIO.
The labor council is composed of more than 70 local unions in Essex and Hudson Counties that represent “firefighters, nurses, educators, EMTs, tradespeople, and other essential public servants,” Gill’s campaign said.
“Brendan Gill has consistently shown that he understands the challenges working families face and that he’s willing to stand up and fight for them,” Thomas Giblin, the labor council’s president and a former state assemblyman, said in a statement. “Brendan grew up in a union household that taught him the values of protecting workers’ rights to supporting strong public services and safe communities. In his longstanding work for Congressman Bill Pascrell, Governor Phil Murphy, Senator Frank Lautenberg, and Senator Cory Booker, Brendan has earned the trust of labor.”
Gill has earned more than a dozen labor endorsements since launching his special election campaign for the 11th congressional district, among them unions representing firefighters, electrical workers, hotel employees, longshoremen, and more.
