The joy and warmth of the holiday season will fill the streets of Camden on Saturday during a holiday motorcade and tree lighting ceremony.
The motorcade, featuring local officials and Santa Claus, will start at 4 p.m. on Haddon and Newton avenues and proceed to the Adventure Aquarium. Eventgoers can enjoy music performances by local groups like the Creative Arts High School Choir and the KIPP Titans Drumline and local eats from food trucks, said city spokesman Vincent Basara. Around 5:30 p.m., the tree lighting ceremony will begin on the Camden Waterfront, 2 Aquarium Drive.
“It’s truly an incredible moment for fellowship. It’s a time to spread cheer, and our Camden Waterfront is such a beautiful setting for this free event,” said Camden Mayor Victor Carstarphen. “Please join us as we welcome the holidays and celebrate the tremendous progress made in 2025.”
The city has hosted a holiday event for years, but has consistently thrown this version of the celebration since 2010, Basara said. The free event typically attracts hundreds of people each year, Basara said.
Local officials encourage residents to come to the event to celebrate the city and holidays together.
“This is a wonderful chance for the community to come together and share in the spirit of the season,” said County Commissioner Jonathan Young.
