Democrat Michael Roth has hired Hilary Caldwell, a veteran of state campaigns across the river in Pennsylvania, as his campaign manager in New Jersey’s 7th congressional district.
Caldwell worked on several campaigns for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, including as campaign manager for one of the Democrats who helped flip the chamber blue in 2022. She also had stints as a campus organizer for a national progressive group and as an organizer on now-DNC Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta’s 2022 Senate campaign.
“Representing this district isn’t about being ‘purple’, or red versus blue. It’s about truly meeting people where they are, and running a campaign that is driven to address the real issues that people face, not hyper-partisan politics or generic talking points,” Caldwell said in a statement. “That’s why I am so confident that Michael is the best person to represent NJ-7 – no one else has the practical experience, know-how, and energy to deliver real results for the people and communities of this district on day one.”
Roth is one of eight Democrats vying for the Democratic nomination to take on Rep. Tom Kean Jr. (R-Westfield), who is a top Democratic target in 2026.
