The National Weather Service has issued wind advisories for 16 New Jersey counties on Sunday with gusts up to 50 mph possible.
The wind advisories are in effect from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday for Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Salem, Somerset, Warren and Sussex counties.
For Cape May County and other areas along the Jersey Shore, the alerts extend to 10 p.m.
“West winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts of 40 to 50 mph expected,” the weather service said in the alert. “Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.”
Motorists, especially those driving high-profile vehicles, should exercise caution due to difficult driving conditions, the weather service said.
The strong winds are part of a weather system moving through the region that will bring blustery conditions to the entire state through Monday.
Sunday will feature mostly dry conditions despite the strong winds, though isolated showers may develop during the afternoon and evening hours.
High temperatures will reach the 50s across most of the state, with 40s in northwestern areas.
Temperatures will drop Sunday night into the 30s for most locations, with 20s possible in northwestern counties.
Monday will remain breezy with winds gradually decreasing throughout the day, though gusts could still reach 30 mph, particularly along the Jersey Shore.
