Mahala Weintraub totaled 27 assists for top-seeded Montclair Kimberley in its 3-0 victory against fourth-seeded Saddle River Day in the semifinal round of the North Jersey, Non-Public B Tournament in Montclair.
Montclair Kimberley took the first set, 25-12, then won the second set over Saddle River day, 25-11.
Saddle River Day fought back in the third set and made it a much tigher set for Montclair Kimberley as Montclair Kimberley held on to win the third set, 25-23.
Layla Lynch had 11 kills and 11 spikes for Montclair Kimberley while Layla Brown tallied 10 spikes and 10 kills.
Saddle River Day ends its season with a 16-11 record.
Montclair Kimberley will face third-seeded St. Mary (Ruth.) in the final round on Thursday. St. Mary took down second-seeded St. Benedict’s, 3-1, in its semifinal round matchup.
Both teams met in last season’s section final where St. Mary took the win over Montclair Kimberley, 2-1. St. Mary then took down Rutgers Prep in the Non-Public B Championship, 2-1.
