The basics:
- Lowenstein Sandler adds Arthur Armstrong as partner in its insurance recovery group
- Team represents corporate clients like BASF, Clear Channel
- Group has doubled partners in the past year — reflecting strategic growth
- Focus includes cyber, D&O, E&O, first-party property coverage
Lowenstein Sandler LLP continues to grow one of its most high-profile groups.
In an Oct. 27 press release, the Roseland-based law firm welcomed Arthur Armstrong as a partner in its insurance recovery group. The new hire was previously a partner at Reed Smith LLP and Anderson Kill PC.
Armstrong’s practice at Lowenstein focuses exclusively on representing corporate policyholders in high-stakes insurance recovery matters, the firm said. Chaired by Lynda Bennett, the team has obtained billions of dollars in insurance recoveries for corporate and governmental policyholders since its launch in the 1980s.
Over the past year, the insurance recovery group doubled its number of partners, according to the firm. In addition to Jeremy King’s arrival as a partner in August, several associates and counsel recently joined to take advantage of the niche specialization opportunities the group offers, Lowenstein said.
According to Lowenstein, the insurance recovery group currently represents clients in numerous high-profile matters across the U.S., including:
- Chemical producer BASF in a significant insurance recovery litigation seeking coverage for alleged PFAS liabilities arising from nationwide claims
- Outdoor advertising company Clear Channel in seeking coverage under a D&O tower for an eight-figure settlement of a regulatory claim
Lowenstein also represented Mist Pharmaceuticals before the New Jersey Supreme Court. That landmark case addresses issues untouched for more than 40 years. As a result, the insurer’s prolonged delay tactics were found to constitute an unreasonable withholding of consent to a settlement opportunity.
More on Armstrong
Armstrong commented on his new role at one of the largest law firms in New Jersey. He said, “I am eager to collaborate with Lowenstein’s renowned Insurance Recovery team on its cutting-edge coverage work advocating for businesses against insurance companies.”
“I am impressed by the firm’s solid foundation, strategic plan for sustained growth, and alignment with many areas of my own practice, particularly in the sectors of private equity and technology,” he added.
Armstrong is an alumnus of Temple University Law School and St. Joseph’s University. He has extensive experience representing privately held and publicly traded companies against primary and excess insurers to secure and maximize coverage under cyber, first party property, commercial general liability, D&O, E&O and other insurance policies.
Armstrong has counseled clients at all stages of an insurance claim life cycle. Additionally, has also worked on cyber insurance-related matters, such as ransomware attacks and data breaches.

Bennett said, “Arthur’s background aligns exceedingly well with our practice. Not only has he been a highly respected coverage attorney for decades, his depth of experience in cyber and first-party business interruption claims complements our existing depth in the areas of Reps & Warranty and D&O insurance.
“Culturally, Arthur is a great fit because he is committed to developing the same kind of deep client relationships that we are well known for.”
