TRENTON — A 17-year-old was shot and killed on Halloween, according to Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey and Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson.
The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are investigating the incident that took the life of Gussiah McEachern, 17, of Trenton.
On Friday, October 31, 2025, at approximately 10:01 p.m., officers from the Trenton Police Department responded to first block of East Hanover Street in response to numerous 911 calls reporting a large disturbance. Calls continued to come in describing several different events to the police, including a large group of juveniles involved in physical altercations and instances of individuals being stabbed or shot.
Upon arrival at the scene, Trenton patrol officers located a single victim in the street. The victim, identified as Gussiah McEachern, 17, of Trenton, was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was ultimately pronounced deceased from the fatal wound. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of McEachern’s death.
While at the hospital, detectives identified a second victim from the incident. The 15-year-old male from Trenton was treated for non-life threatening cuts and stab wounds to his arms and legs.
More than 100 individuals present in the street and cars at a complete gridlock in the 100 block of East Hanover Street can be seen in footage of the incident.
