It seems fair to say that no one quite expected for the game between Bogota and Weehawken to go the the way it did.
Despite neither team scoring more than 35 points in a game beforehand, the two teams kept the scoreboard lights turning for Bogota to take a 61-60 double overtime win over Weehawken in Bogota.
“I had no idea it was going to be this much of a shootout,” said Bogota head coach James Case.
The star of the game was Jayden Gonzalez, who finished with six touchdowns for Bogota (4-2).
Gonzalez found the end zone off a short rush in the second overtime to tie the game 60-60. Bogota’s defense did their part in stopping Weehawken’s conversion earlier in 2OT, and Adrien Ventura did his part by driving home the game-deciding PAT.
The game was back and forth throughout as Bogota held a 41-40 lead early in the fourth.
Case said Gonzalez and Jaidin Gonzalez led the way both on offense and defense. The coach added that Derek Cabana and Matt Heras made big plays on defense as well, while Iman Ahmodu led the offensive line.
Weehawken fell to 1-4 with the loss.
