The basics:
- National Coffee Day 2025 brings free drinks, discounts nationwide
- Dunkin’, Starbucks, Krispy Kreme & more offer specials
- Deals come as coffee prices rise nearly 21% year-over-year, CPI reports
Monday may not be so bad after all, thanks to the many popular chains offering deals and discounts for National Coffee Day Sept. 29.
Brands with a local presence – such as Dunkin’, Paris Baguette and 7-Eleven – all announced freebies and specials to celebrate the food holiday.
With coffee ranked as American’s favorite drink other than water, the promotions couldn’t come at a better time.
According to the most recent Consumer Price Index, retail coffee prices in August were up nearly 21% from the same time last year. Between July and August, prices for roasted coffee rose 4% and instant coffee climbed almost 5%.
Industry analysts point to a mix of factors, including extreme weather hurting crops in countries like Brazil, higher shipping and labor costs, inflation and strong demand.
According to the National Coffee Association’s Fall 2025 trend report, adults in the U.S. drink about 490 million cups of coffee every day. While 62% choose traditional coffee, 57% turn to specialty drinks like lattes, espressos and cappuccinos, the association said.
