Both New Jersey gubernatorial candidates will share their platforms and outlooks on issues surrounding the commercial real estate industry later this month.
NAIOP New Jersey will host The Road Ahead: NJ’s Next Governor & the Future of CRE Sept. 22 at Middlesex College in Edison.
In addition to hosting Democratic candidate U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill and Republican hopeful Jack Ciattarelli, the event will also offer industry perspectives.
According to NAIOP NJ, candidates were asked to engage in such topics as:
- Economic development and the business climate
- Affordable housing mandates and development incentives
- Environmental permitting and regulatory reform
- Infrastructure, transit and freight system investments
- Energy policy and grid capacity for high-growth industries like data centers

NAIOP NJ will share its top policy priorities for New Jersey’s next governor. A panel discussion will also explore broad perspectives from state business leaders, including:
- Tom Bracken, president and CEO, New Jersey Chamber of Commerce
“Commercial real estate is a key driver of the state’s economy. We need to keep it strong through easing the regulatory process, incenting investors and providing an overall economic environment in the state that is welcoming and supportive.” - Christina Renna, president and CEO, Chamber of Commerce of Southern New Jersey
“New Jersey’s economy is dependent on growth and economic activity. CRE is the leading edge of that activity and policies that formulate it are critical.” - Jim Kirkos, CEO, Meadowlands Regional Chamber and Meadowlands Live! Convention & Visitors Bureau
“The outcome of this election will set the course for New Jersey’s business climate and commercial real estate market for years to come. From economic development and infrastructure to housing and energy policy, the decisions made by the next administration will directly impact how the state invests, grows, and shapes communities.”
